Tour & Package Description
The Zaanse Schans is a residential area in which the 18th and 19th centuries are brought to life. Stroll past the bakery museum and enjoy the smell of fresh bread, or take a look at the warehouse where clogs are made. You should be sure not to miss the cheese factory, pewter foundry and the various windmills. The Zaanse Schans is a unique part of the Netherlands, full of wooden houses, mills, barns and workshops. Make a cycling or sailing trip, browse the shops or treat yourself at the pancake restaurant. A day out at the Zaanse Schans in North Holland is fun and educational.

Step into your air conditioned crossover and settle in for the scenic journey out of the city to the Dutch countryside. En route to several North Holland villages, and learn about the passing sights, including dikes and polders — areas of land reclaimed from the water. Your first stop is at Zaanse Schans, a pretty town on the Zaan River and a popular destination due to its well-preserved windmills, some dating back to the 17th century. See evocations of traditional Dutch life at the historical shipyard, as well as iconic Holland windmills. Next, continue to Volendam and Marken and admire a quaint scene of fishing boats and the occasional local wearing traditional Dutch dress. A visit to a local shoemaker to admire the art of carving and painting the wooden clogs the Netherlands is known for is also a memorable part of the trip. In the summer, you’ll have the option to board a boat for a 20-minute trip between Volendam and Marken. Once you’ve snapped plenty of photos, your 5.5-hour or 7-hour tour concludes with the return to Mr BnB, or if you like you can be dropped off in Amsterdam or Utrecht centre. Don’t worry we will take your gifts back to the guest house!
